Playing in the studio

Mississippi Mills School of the Arts and in the greater Ottawa community with Artswell for 10 years. It seems like a extensive and rewarding time.

My teaching now involves giving workshops from my studio in painting, drawing and mixed media. I also offer 1:1 coaching and seasonal art retreats.

I love to paint and it's a delight to share my joy with others. It is an honour to help people connect deeply through art and creativity.

    Workshop Drawing & Glass

Drawing and Glass is a collaborative venture with painter Mary Pfaff and glass artist Jennifer Anne Kelly. They have joined forces to bring you an inspired workshop that has the makings for you to explore two different yet beautifully complementary mediums.

Your Saturday morning will start with an optional chair yoga practice at 9:00 am at the 15 Bridge Street in Mary’s studio with instructor Charlotte Pragnell. Charlotte will be guiding students in a yoga practice that will help them to unleash their inner artist by opening up their energy for creative expressions to flow more freely. Prepare to be inspired and rejuvenated!

The drawing portion on Saturday morning at 10:00am, open to all levels, will be held at 15 Bridge Street in Mary’s studio space. Students will explore a spontaneous, expressive approach to drawing from nature. Using the basic elements of drawing – line, colour, shape, tone and texture in fresh and liberating ways you will create several drawings that access your inner artist. At 12:30pm we will break for an hour lunch leaving you time to enjoy one of the yummy restaurants or food trucks in Almonte.  On Saturday afternoon from 1:30-4:30 your favourite drawing will be transformed into glass in Jennifer’s studio at 112 Queen Street. You will be introduced to expression through glass as an exciting new medium. Unique painterly techniques will be introduced to both new and experienced glass artists.

The name of the tour itself evokes images of a quaint country pub in a lovely rural setting. You will see breathtaking scenery as you drive along the winding roads between studios. Our concentration of sugar maple trees creates a dramatic display of beautiful and vivid fall colours. CBC Radio’s highly respected gardening guru Ed Lawrence, stated that the drive along Wolf Grove Road from Almonte to Hopetown is one of the prettiest in the entire Ottawa valley.

The area is filled with rich heritage and to enhance your wonderful experience we have created an interactive map that highlights points of historical interests along the tour.

The 21st Crown and Pumpkin Studio Tour will take place on the Thanksgiving weekend, 7 – 9 Oct 2017, from 10am – 5pm daily.  There will be 18 Studio stops with works from over 50 creators.

    Admission is free.
